Assurance Healthcare & Counseling Center offers an ongoing open-group workshop for anxiety. Current members are invited to join one of our Mental Health Counselors – Holly Porter, LMHC, or Bradley Smith, LSWAIC in an interactive group workshop about anxiety.
Each week, members can expect to engage in psychoeducation regarding different aspects of anxiety, explore a variety of effective coping strategies, learn how to modify coping strategies to fit your personal needs, and learn to gently laugh with yourself and with others as we all move forward in our mental health!
Because this is a weekly, open workshop, members may come and go as they please on a weekly basis. The more you come, the more you’ll learn and grow!
Please RSVP for the workshop below, and the schedule can be found in that online form. We’ll meet nearly every Tuesday from 11:00 to 11:50am. Click “RSVP Now” to register or to see our schedule.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Is this group therapy?
Pretty much, yep! However, there are many different kinds of groups and this anxiety group is designed as an interactive workshop with a strong emphasis on psychoeducation. Holly will structure each weekly session to allow individuals to participate at the level they are most comfortable. Holly will ask questions of the group, invite people to practice exercises, and give opportunities for individuals to share, but participation is optional. We only ask that you arrive prepared to listen and learn.
Is there a charge for this workshop?
No! Each workshop is free to current members of Assurance Healthcare & Counseling Center.
Is this an online event?
No! We are meeting in-person at our new location: 3611 River Road, Suite 200, Yakima, WA 98902. Wearing masks will be optional, as we have plenty of room to physically distance where necessary.
What should I bring with me?
Bring your coffee, tea, or other non-alcoholic beverage and a notepad / journal / 3-ring binder / scroll to take some notes.
Can my child(ren) attend?
Young adults (15+ y/o) are welcome to join (please have each person attending complete the registration process).
Can I invite my friend who is not a member?
We are currently only providing this class to current, active members of Assurance Healthcare & Counseling Center.
Can I attend multiple workshops?
Absolutely! In fact, the design of the workshop is that content will change and progress each week. Members are encouraged to make a commitment towards their mental health and to attend the workshop regularly. However, you’re also welcome to come to a single workshop to try it out. This weekly workshop is designed to fit those who are in attendance, so material will differ from week to week.
